Probably one of our most highly-anticipated destinations are the Cinque Terre (lit. "five lands") in Italy. These five towns which line the rugged northwestern coast of Italy are joined by a walking path -- no cars allowed. The northernmost of these towns is called Monterosso. This is where we are hoping to meet up with some other friends on our first day in the area.

The Cinque Terre was my absolute favorite spot in Europe.We walked the mountain path between all 5 villages carrying backpacks and I took about 500 pictures. My advice? Walk slowly. It is not a race. The scenery is breathtaking. You are so going to love it. Oh, and there's an incredible restaurant in Levanto that serves The Best lasagne. No, really...it was frigging unbelievable.
Deep sigh.
Man I'd love to go back to Italy.
